Dove to Fork

Field to Fork is a learn-to-hunt program for adults (18 y/o and up) who are new to hunting in general, or who have little-to-no experience hunting the featured game for the workshop. At this time, we host workshops featuring deer hunting, turkey hunting, duck hunting, and dove hunting (new 2018!).

Topics covered in Field to Fork workshops include:

• Biology of game animals
• History of hunting in Kentucky
• Habitats of featured game
• Hunting regulations
• Basic hunting equipment
• Scouting and hunting tactics
• Field dressing
• Butchering game
• Preparing game for the table
• Much more!

The workshops also include hands on range time with certified instructors, using typical hunting equipment, including but not limited to crossbows and shotguns!

Some workshops are combine with a mentored hunt. For the hunt, each participant is paired with a skilled mentor who will assist them during a hunt on public land in Kentucky. The mentor is there to answer questions, share hunting knowledge and skills in the field, and to assist if an animal is harvested. There are also follow up hunt opportunities (that are not mentored) where staff are stationed at a centralized location to assist with post-harvest processing.

  Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources presents a Beyond BOW (Becoming an Outdoors Woman) Deer Field to Fork workshop designed for women to learn how to deer hunt alongside other women. This workshop is paired with a mentored crossbow deer hunt on October 12th – 14th. To participate in the mentored hunt you must attend the workshop and the location of the hunt will be announced at the workshop.

Each participant must have their hunter safety certification prior to the workshop. Join us for the first ever Dove Field to Fork where you will learn all the basics of dove hunting and apply them during a mentored hunt. This workshop and hunt is designed for novice dove hunters.
