Mocktails Bring Real Pleasure
Created as an alternative to outlawed cocktails during the Prohibition era, “mocktails” are crafted nonalcoholic drinks, the most famous named for the 1930s child film star Shirley Temple.
Mocktails are trending in a big way in many local restaurants, thanks in part to Jesse Hawkins, founder of the Sober Voyager Foundation and The Mocktail Project, a grassroots movement to eliminate social pressures on those who choose not to drink alcohol, whether they be designated drivers, pregnant or working on sobriety.
The Ginger Mule was co-crafted by lead mixologist Eron Pleven at Copper & Kings Distillery and is served at Anoosh Bistro and NooshNosh restaurants. One dollar of every mocktail ordered from them helps the S.V. Foundation provide recovery aid to individuals seeking treatment at The Morton Center and The Healing Place.
