Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles’ newly created Hunger Task Force will study the critical issue of food insecurity facing one in six Kentuckians.

The group is charged with:

• building and expanding collaborative partnerships between the public and private sectors that address hunger;
• strengthening food-distribution infrastructure to enable farmers to better serve the needs of Kentuckians; and
• increasing education and public awareness of hunger that affects Kentuckians of all ages.

“This is a problem for all of Kentucky” said Commissioner Quarles. He invites “anyone interested in reducing hunger in Kentucky to take part in the regional meetings.”
