The name Grasshoppers is breathing new life thanks to restaurateur and farmer Ivor Chodkowski and businessman Eddie Vetter, who have launched a new line of prepared and frozen foods made with locally grown produce. Grasshoppers was originally a local food sourcing business that closed in 2013.

Sourcing from local farmers and producers within a 100-mile radius, Grasshoppers has launched three hand-crafted dips: Black Bean Mashup, Cilantro Pesto and Garlic Scape Pesto. Currently, products are available at Rainbow Blossom stores and St. Matthew’s Farmers’ Market. The product line will soon expand to items like pickled vegetables, frozen sauté packs and soup mixes.

Local sourcing includes Barr Farms, Field Day Family Farm, Rootbound Farm, Groce Family Farm, Girl Next Door Farm, Healthy Hoosier Oil, Facing West, Holden Farm, Bourbon Barrel Foods and Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheeses. Ingredients are minimally processed with no chemical preservatives at Chef Space, the nonprofit Community Ventures incubator kitchen, 1812 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd. GrasshoppersFood.com, ChefSpace.org
