edible Kentucky and Southern Indiana - Spring 2020

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

For over ten years, we have been an important component of our region’s food economy. No, we have not cooked anything, not grown anything, nor processed anything. What we have done is to tell the stories of many of those who have.

One could say, we have simply been applying some organic fertilizer to the seedlings of many wondrous people and organizations whose efforts make our region uniquely excellent when it comes to the food and beverage—a community worthy of the national praise.

Without the important role of story telling, whether ours or others, these individuals and organizations would likely not be as far along their journey towards sustainability as they are now. Please support local players with your dollars lest we continue down the current road to a singular experience of Amazon Inc.

Coincident with our 10th Anniversary, we are excited to change our header to reflect the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky. Agriculture has always been much broader than any one city or region and this name change will simply now reflect that fact. Hopefully, we can also attract more readers far and wide and advertisers wanting to spread their important messages. Finally, we have invited others to join in the anniversary celebration and to tell their origin story. You will find those interesting stories scattered throughout this issue.

Welcome to the beginning of the second decade of Edible here in Kentucky!
